Looking forward to NAAE 2012, we soon approach that time of year to renew membership in the North American Academy of Ecumenists. As you know, the Academy is affiliated with the Journal of Ecumenical Studies, and NAAE membership includes a subscription to JES. While NAAE membership runs from 01 June to 31 May, the JES subscription is entered for the year that begins in January of your membership. Therefore, NAAE membership must be renewed each year before 01 January. The regular membership fee is $60. For students, retirees and religious with limited income, the membership fee is $30. To renew, go to http://www.naae.net. While renewing your membership, please consider inviting an academic friend or colleague who is not a member to become one.
Next year’s annual conference will be held 21-23 September in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Our local host is the Atlantic School of Theology, a truly academic and ecumenical institution. Rev. Dr. David MacLachlan, a biblical scholar at ATS, is overseeing local arrangements. With the theme “The Ecumenical Legacy of the Second Vatican Council” NAAE 2012 promises to be a milestone conference. Visit the website to see the schedule and list of eminent theologians and ecumenists who are our speakers.
On behalf of the NAAE Board of Directors, I thank you for your commitment to the unity of the church and to the Academy whose sole raison d’être is the fulfillment of the prayer of Jesus in John 17:21, ‘that all may be one, ... that the world may believe...’.
All of the above indicates a good reason to RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP NOW and COME TO HALIFAX NEXT YEAR!
Sincerely yours, in the At-one-ment,
Lorelei, SA Sr. Dr. Lorelei F. Fuchs, SA President, NAAE 2011-2013
